Who says you have to rough it to enjoy the majestic Rocky Mountains? Glamour meets horseback riding in this specialized adventure into Kananaskis Country. We’ve paired two expert leads in their field with Anchor D Outfitting handling the horses and travel, and a gourmet brunch served up by Skijor Canada founder, and mountain riding aficionado, Sam Mitchell.

You’ll meet at the ranch and get accustomed to your horse and tack in an arena before heading out. Once tacked up and on your way by horseback, you’ll travel at a steady rhythm, following your expert guide along trails that will take you up through the lands of famous Alberta cowboy, John Ware, all whilst enjoying the tranquil wilderness in vibrant fall colours.

You’ll feel positively back in time, horseback, looking at the world from John Ware Ridge and while that in itself will be a lifelong memory, the best will be yet to come upon your return to the ranch, where you’ll be treated to a five-star gourmet lunch, prepared by Sam Mitchell and company. You’ll witness the art of cooking in the outback, and be welcome to ask questions about cooking gear, favorite ingredients for mountain packing, meal prep and recipes for gourmet mountainside cooking.

We’ll leave you with a personalized recipe from one of the lunch courses, and photos and memories to last a lifetime.

DETAILS: You’ll meet at 9:30 a.m. at Anchor D Outfitting for introductions to your wranglers, mounts and tacking up. The ride will be approximately 2 hours and lunch will be served al fresco (weather permitting) upon your return to the ranch.
